• Use floss, picks, or interdental brushes to help clean around and under crowns and bridgework.

• Brush your teeth AND your gums twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Use a soft toothbrush.

Having decay around the edges (margins) of dental fillings is quite common in older adults. Fillings over the years may weaken, fracturing around the edges. The margin area will be most susceptible to developing decay, this is where the crown or restoration filling meets the tooth. Food and other debris will collect right around the margin area, and this leads to bacteria buildup, which leads to decay. Crowns will protect a weakened tooth, but flossing and brushing daily is still a must. Restoration work can develop decay just like any other tooth. Dental Office in Mobile AL

#Sweetwaterdentist A great toothpaste for restoration dental work is Colgate PreviDent 5000. It has a higher level of fluoride, four times higher than the amount found in regular toothpaste. If you are at high risk for decay, a prescription level fluoride toothpaste may be needed to help strengthen your teeth and protect them against decay. Dental Office in Mobile AL
