Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a restorative piece that is used to replace one or more missing teeth. A bridge is a very popular treatment to replace missing teeth. Getting a dental bridge may preserve your teeth because it will prevent tooth decay and prevent your remaining teeth from loosening. Here at Sweet Water Dentistry in Fairhope, AL with Dr. Phillip Greer, we will do our best to give you the perfect treatment and care when it comes to getting a dental bridge! Dental bridges are fixed and permanently cemented in the mouth unlike a partial denture, which can easily come in and out. Bridges can be connected by crowns, implants, or a combination of both. Ask Dr. Greer about different ways that your bridge can be connected!
Preparations for a Dental Bridge
After both teeth on either side of the missing tooth are prepped, we then scan the area with our high-tech ceramic machine instead of doing impressions (no nasty gooey impressions here!), and then the bridge is made in-house and cemented in the mouth. Dr. Phillip Greer will then adjust your bridge to make sure that everything feels good with your new bridge!
The teeth on either side of the bridge are called “abutments” and the tooth that replaces the missing tooth is called the “pontic”
If you have one or more missing teeth and would like to have them permanently replaced, a dental bridge just might be the right dental treatment for you!
