Looking for a new reason to stay slim?  How about this one?  It may help to fight gum disease!  A study has been done at the Harvard School of Public Health and has found that overweight adults are at higher risk of gum disease than normal-weight people. #sweetwaterdentist

Data was analyzed from 37,000 men who participated in the study, all men were disease-free when the study began.  They were followed for 16 years, from 1986-2002.  Research gathered the following: height, weight, self-reported gum disease diagnosis, and waist and hip measurements.

Obesity was associated with a 29% increase risk of periodontal disease.  Obesity standard definition was a body-mass index of 30 or higher.
